About the Event

"Summer Saturdays at the Society - Come Visit Our Museum & Barn "

The Washington Historical Society Museum and Barn at 100 Halfmoon Pond Road are open every Saturday July 1st through September 2nd from 10am - 2pm.  Admission is Free and All are Welcome!

Museum

Visitors will enjoy the displays of both the common items from everyday life as well as luxury items, which together illustrate and document over 250 years of Washington history. Researchers can utilize our extensive collection of local genealogical information and vital statistics data.

This year our featured exhibit is a huge collection of Washington NH memorabilia donated to us by the late Stephen Crain (1949-2019).  Mr. Crain spent many years collecting a wide variety of material related to the history, including vintage souvenirs, historic photographs, books, and 100s of postcards, among other items, and these are now on display for your enjoyment!

Barn

Subject of an award-winning restoration in the early 2000’s, our 19th century barn features historic farm machinery and implements; detailed recreations of a blacksmith’s shop, maple sugaring exhibit, and old-fashioned kitchen display; and an original horse drawn hearse ordered by the town in the 1890's.
